We thank God for providing us with a passionate and very capable office team leader in Phoebe Davies who will anchor things with help from a growing number of people who are putting up their hands to get involved. We will also welcome the wonderful Kia Holmes shortly as she commences her work experience with us alongside Phoebe.
In the short term the office will focus on efforts in the two ACT electorates i.e. Fraser and Canberra as well as a lifted presence in the NSW rural electorates of Eden-Monaro, Hume, Riverina and Farrer when and where possible. Over the next 2 months we will hopefully facilitate some promotional and representative delegations, speaking engagements and events as well as some orientation opportunities and forums for issue engagement.
Last week, Phoebe and Graeme (pictured above) represented Micah ACT at the govermnent's response to the recent independent review of overseas aid effectiveness. Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd outlined the response by presenting a strategic plan which was received well across the board and especially by the agencies that make up the Micah Challenge coalition.
For an excellent precis of the government's response in light of the Micah Challenge submission to the independent review, we recommend you have a read of MC's National coordinator John Beckett's Blog.
