blogspot_mugHere following is a brief summary of what Karen and Graeme have been up to in the past year or so (2009-2010) and we thought it might be a helpful way to let you have some news and a little context as we crank up the Heartland Ministries journey.

January
  • We began 2009 in Graeme’s beautiful home town of Wollongong. Converging with family from Qld, Canberra & Wollongong itself, we enjoyed breathtaking views and relaxing pursuits in preparation for what was to come.
  • Moved into a Unit in the City in order to take steps of faith towards understanding what God wanted us to do next with regard to the vision about establishing a property that would support and resource people in mission (wherever they are missionaries) & support & showcase music & the arts etc.
  • Graeme took up the reins at Grace Canberra for a year of transition, allowing Brian Medway to spend up to 4 mths actual time over the next 10 mths away from Canberra working face to face with leaders from right across our Crosslink Network of about 75 churches.
February
  • Celebrated Mum’s (Joyce Hush) 80th Birthday.
  • A highlight was for Karen & Graeme to lead worship with G’s best mate Gordon Barr, his son Kyle & daughter Justine (G’s God children) and Scott Ezzy at the first Prophetic Network of Australia School for 2009 held in Castle Hill.  This was the first time Gordon and Graeme had done this since the 2001 Mexico Ministry Tour.
  • We were stoked to be able to celebrate Alex Mee’s 18th birthday with Al, Lindsay, Linda, Rebecca, Stephanie, Aileen and other family members & friends in Hornsby before heading home from the PNA school
March
  • Karen took a half a week off and flew up to Brisbane to celebrate her Mum’s (Eileen) and sister’s (Bec) birthdays.
  • Graeme caught up with old mate (not seen for 20 something years) Phil Scheul with new mate Peter Kalmar who Phil went to school with (small world as ever).
  • Celebrated Graeme’s niece Melissa’s marriage to Andrew in Wollongong.
April
  • Coordinated the 12 – 4am shift for the Easter (Fusion) Prayer Vigil with muso mate Andrei up on Mt Ainslie as is our annual custom (not as cold as usual).
  • Supported the Gunning NSW community by providing sound for their special ANZAC DAY commemoration and then chased the early snow up the foothills of the Brindabella’s.
May
  • Graeme in Darwin for NHW Australasia Advisory Board 2 day meeting
  • Bec & Mark came to hang out with us

June

  • It was a busy football season
July
  • Took a day trip to the Hunter Valley for a surprise visit on our mates Darren & Lindsey who were taking a well earned break with friends Bob & Angela who have bought a B & B Farmstay called Avoca House in Wollombi. We recommend you check this place out if you are looking for retreat options.
August
  • Hosted a City Wide prayer lunch with guest Dr. C. Peter Wagner.
  • Coordinated sound for Brindabella Christian College’s performances of ‘Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”
  • Karen began mixing & mastering work on the Youth worship CD project ‘Home of Glory – The Journal EP’ ; Karen also started some session work (keys and vocals) on new album for local Christian artist, Raylene Waye, which continued through to October.
September
  • Karen’s sister Deb, niece Emmy & nephew Sam stayed with us for a week (prior to soon to be new nephew Mark’s birth) and we were joined by cousins Joy, Dave, Harry, Amelia & Karen’s other sister Bec for a weekend of family mayhem.
  • Went searching for a new home seriously, found one and made an offer Prepared the Ngunnawal House for sale, put it on the market and sold it 3 days later
  • Helped host the 25th Anniversary Dinner function for ACT Neighbourhood Watch

  • Karen tested the road from Canberra to Traralgon in time to celebrate Emmy’s 5th birthday
  • Graeme decided (with the prayerful agreement of Brian Medway & Rob Holmes) that he shouldn’t take over as overall ministry leader for the Grace Canberra community but rather should continue developing the kingdom advancing and back yard missionary support work of ‘Heartland’ as a closely aligned partner with GC in 2010.
  • Hosted Christmas Day breakfast for some people without families to celebrate with.
