You are a believer. Now some believers go to church and seem to believe a hell of a lot of amazing stuff. Most believers avoid church like the plague and couldn’t really explain what they believe. Heartland is where you are. You are a believer. You reckon God is out there. You harbour in your heart, in a deeply private place, some sense that God is YOUR God, somehow involved in your life. You love church or you hate church or you think church means nothing. Doesn’t matter which you are. Church has nothing to do with if you are a believer or not. Let us escape from that idea prison. Let us walk out into the wide open spaces of THIS idea: You believe, so, Heartland is where you are. You give the gift of yourself, each day, where you are. You think you are average or you think you are exceptional or you think you are a loser. But every day you give yourself, the best you can. You can do no more than that. Yourself is the only gift you have to give. You are the only gift you need to give. You are enough. Giving you is giving enough. You give yourself. Heartland is where you are. You are waiting until you are better before you make your mark in the world. You are waiting until you have the answers before you try to help anyone else. You are working on your flaws so that some day you will be able to lead, or teach, or care, or support, or love or be a better person. You are seeing your imperfections and you are seeing every one else’s abilities. You are comparing yourself and always losing the comparison. You are hoping that sometime in the future you will be able to make a difference in the world. Maybe only a small difference, maybe a huge difference. But it will be in the future, you are not ready yet. This is what you are telling yourself. I am telling you different. You will always see your imperfections and they are irrelevant. You will always have new wounds to heal, you will go thru life bleeding and sometimes your blood will stain someone else as theirs will stain you, that is inevitable and in the context of our eternal existence it is unimportant. You will never understand yourself. You will never master yourself. You will never defeat all your inner demons. You are an infinite mystery and you do not have enough time or resources in this life to master the mystery. You don’t need to. See who you ARE. See what you have. See what IS, ignore what is not. Right now you are a rich gift to pour into our world. Stop waiting. Stop expecting to be better in the future. Stop living as if the present is simply a place you wait for a better future, a better you. Heartland is where you are. Right now. Who you are now is enough. Giving yourself right now, is giving enough. When we all give ourselves, the total given will prove to be all the answers all of us need. The rest is God’s business. God’s business is this – She loves us, She made us all perfect, She gave us the perfection of Her Son. Your imperfection is irrelevant because the Divine Perfection is yours. Your wounds and flaws are all temporary and will be dealt with in the moment you see your God face to face. Outside the stream of time that moment has already happened, is happening right now. Until your consciousness enters that moment you might as well ignore your temporary flaws, celebrate the goodness in you and get on with enjoying living generously. Give yourself, that will be enough. God will take care of the rest. Heartland is where you are. Are you so wounded you need to rest? Then rest. Resting is Heartland. Are you building a career and a life, consumed with the effort to make your space in the world? Then aim high and pour your best into that construction. Heartland is a successful life. Are you wounded and angry and you need to fight? Then fight the good fight. Struggle is Heartland. Do you need to cry until your eyes turn to rivers and your heart flows away? Then cry. Weeping is Heartland. Are you enjoying your lover so much you have no thoughts but to return to her arms and taste her again and again? Then sink deeply into that small foretaste of heaven. Sensuous love is Heartland. Are you full of loneliness, feeling torn and empty? Be a desert. The wilderness is Heartland. Are you contented at home, enriched by spouse and children and fulfilled in loving them? Then be content in that fulfillment. Family life is Heartland. Are you full of questions, ripe with doubt, barren with uncertainties? Stand there with integrity. Heartland is questions as much as answers, doubts as much as beliefs, journey as much as destination. Do you believe? Do you give yourself? Forget your tiny imperfections. Escape the unnecessary burden of judging your real self against the perfect and unreal ideal of future you. See this truth, today's you is perfect for today. Be free.
